On the vast and magnificent northwestern plateau, powerful winds are a precious source of green energy. Yet, they also bring unprecedented "extreme challenges" to wind farm construction: unpredictable plateau weather, ultra-high-capacity turbine equipment, installation heights exceeding 100 meters, and fleeting operational windows—each a rigorous test of a crane’s comprehensive capabilities.
Rising to the occasion was XCMG’s "Wind Giant," the XLC18000M (1300-ton) crawler crane. With exceptional site adaptability and an advanced intelligent control system, it conquered these challenges, flawlessly completing the hoisting of the project’s first 11.1MW ultra-high-capacity wind turbine!
Lifting a 210-ton nacelle and drive train to over 100 meters in the air and precisely aligning it with 108-meter-long super-sized blades is as delicate as "threading a needle." The XLC18000M, configured for a 132+8-meter standard wind power setup, handled the task with ease. Its intelligent "one-click" control system ("one-click" lifting, "one-click" rotation, etc.) acts like a "superbrain," working in tandem with a full-range safety load monitoring system to deliver unparalleled speed, stability, and precision. The entire process was efficient, smooth, and exceptionally safe, earning the crane the title of "all-round champion" in high-altitude hoisting.
As wind power equipment rapidly evolves toward larger capacities and taller towers, cranes face ever more demanding requirements—higher, bigger, and heavier. The XLC18000M’s outstanding performance in this plateau debut solidly proves its capability to meet future wind power hoisting challenges with robust, systematic solutions. Not only does it provide reliable support for this project, but it also paves the way for the batch construction and efficiency of future wind farms. Most importantly, this successful first installation has accumulated invaluable field experience for subsequent turbine installations, significantly accelerating the project’s overall progress and pressing a crucial "fast-forward button" for regional green energy transition!
