Along Malaysia's winding coastline, XCMG crawler cranes, excavators, rotary drilling rigs and other equipment are busy participating in the construction of Malaysian East Coast Railway.
As the largest economic and trade project between China and Malaysia, Malaysian
East Coast Railway will bring an additional 1.5% economic growth to the three
states on the east coast after completion, and will become a landmark project
of China Malaysia friendship.
This is the first time that Chinese railway standards were introduced
to Malaysia. China Communications Construction and XCMG cooperate to combine
Chinese technology and equipment together.
Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail expressed that the East Coast Railway
project undertaken by Chinese enterprises will help Malaysia build a more
efficient public transport system and promote local economic development.
The East Coast Railway is more than 600 kilometers long, including more
than 300 construction sites such as tunnels, bridges, subgrades, culverts, etc.
XCMG's complete sets of equipment are experiencing the peak period of construction
at the moment.
The local area is high in salinity, humidity and ultraviolet radiation.
Equipment exposed to such environment will experience obvious corrosion. The
railway passes through forests, mountains and rivers. The severe environment
and huge space span challenge the adaptability and durability of XCMG
equipment.
Penhang River Bridge is the controlling project of the East Coast
Railway project. At the beginning of construction, it encountered the
catastrophic flood of Penhang river. XCMG's 25-ton and 55-ton truck cranes and the
steel trestles they built withstood the test without overturning accident, and
immediately went back to the intense work after the flood.
At the construction site near the Lekal River, the land ravaged by the
flood became muddy like a swamp. XCMG XGC75 crawler crane, with the advantages
of large chassis and small grounding pressure, is designed for the tough occasion
like this. It enters the site calmly in a straight-line, lifts at a constant
speed, walks with load and places components in position, completing the task
at one go. The 24x7 operation of the crane helps the constructor seize the
construction period.
It is estimated that by 2023, 23000 workers will join the East Railway
project. As a globally trusted engineering equipment and service provider, XCMG
will send more machines to the front line.
